Laser Varicose Veins Removal

You will be surprised to learn how all those large bulging varicose veins disappear in a half an hour simple -in office- procedure without an incision..! This is the magic of EVLT..

Make sure to ask your Doctor if he/she perform this procedure., and how many he/she has done before you, because experience in veins treatment counts, and the advantage of real specialized Vein clinic is obvious, never accept treatment by an occasional vascular surgeon or a radiologist… This procedure is only simple because of the perfection made over years and thousands of cases done by the specialist Surgeon performing it, and that is what you get at VeinCure Clinic, a clinic dedicated almost entirely to varicose veins treatments and directed by an American Board Certified surgeon with passion for veins.

Even for the worst, largest, grape like, bulging varicose veins, the new Endolaser (pioneered few years ago by Dr. Sarmad Aji, FACS and few other vascular surgeons in the USA and is now the gold standard of large varicose veins treatment across the globe) has eliminated the need for the traditional surgical “stripping” in almost all cases, it’s done in the Doctor’s office, in half an hour, under local anesthesia with simply, stunning results, and better yet, it is covered by most medical insurance companies.

What are Varicose Veins and what causes them?

Veins carry blood from various parts of our body toward the heart through a one-way valve pipes call veins. When there is a weakness in the vein wall or a faulty valve, the valve stretches and no longer closes properly. The veins become visibly enlarged, filled with blood that does not flow normally, causing pain, swelling, discoloration, sores that won’t heal, blood clots and other problems, in addition to their unsightly appearance.

These enlarged veins are commonly called Spider veins or varicose veins. Spider veins are small red, blue or purple veins on the surface of the skin. Varicose veins are larger distended veins that are located somewhat deeper than spider veins. Reticular veins are medium size, greenish , non bulging, yet abnormally visible veins, seen most commonly behind the knees and on the outer surface of the thighs, and they represent an early stage varicose veins.

There are many factors that contribute to the development of these unsightly veins including pregnancy, weight gain, prolonged standing, and genetics.

Heredity is the number one contributing factor causing varicose and spider veins. Women are more likely to suffer from these abnormal leg veins. Up to 50% of American women may be affected. Hormonal factors including puberty, pregnancy, menopause, and the use of birth control pills, Estrogen, and Progesterone ( female hormones ) affect the disease. It is very common for pregnant women to develop varicose veins during the first trimester. Pregnancy causes increases in hormone levels and blood volume which in turn cause veins to enlarge. In addition, the enlarged uterus causes increased pressure on the veins. Varicose veins due to pregnancy often improve within 3 months after delivery. However, with successive pregnancies, these abnormal veins are more likely to remain.

Varicose and spider veins frequently cause pain in the affected area. Symptoms include fatigue, heaviness, aching, burning, throbbing, itching, cramping, and restlessness of the legs. Leg swelling can occur. Severe varicose veins can compromise the nutrition of the skin and lead to eczema, inflammations or even ulcerations, thickening of the skin and brownish pigmentations of the lower legs and ankles. Without varicose vein therapy increasing pain, welling, bleeding, clots, phlebitis ( Inflammation of the veins ) and chronic ulcers on the ankle can occur.

Vein disorders are not always visible; therefore diagnostic techniques are important tools in determining the cause and severity of the problem. In addition to a physical examinations, noninvasive Colored Venous Doppler Ultrasound and Vein-light tests are often used.

During the initial consultation, The VeinCure Clinic Specialist Surgeon will discuss the symptoms of varicose veins and perform Ultrasound examination of the lower limb varicose veins to identify each patient’s abnormal circulation. This diagnostic test enables the Doctor to choose and explain to you the varicose vein treatment which will give the best results possible.

How do we treat varicose veins without surgery?

Surgery for varicose veins has become an obsolete option that we rarely, if ever, need to do. At VeinCure, we provide the alternative treatments of varicose veins using the best, safest and most long lasting techniques, all are done in our state of the art clinic facilities, under local anesthesia, with no pain, no down time and with returning to work immediately or on the next day.

Among the techniques used routinely at VeinCure Clinic:

Endovenous Laser Techniques (EVLT)

This method of treating the main offending vein causing most varicose veins of the legs ( the so called saphenous vein ) has been a huge breakthrough. It replaced surgery for the vast majority of patients with severe varicose veins. This technique is non invasive and can be done in a doctor’s office.
With simple local anesthetic and through a tiny painless needle prick, the doctor puts a very small tube called a catheter into the vein. Once inside, the catheter sends out radiofrequency or laser energy that shrinks and seals the vein wall. Healthy veins around the closed vein restore the normal flow of blood. As this happens, symptoms from the varicose vein improve. Veins on the surface of the skin that are connected to the treated vein will also shrink shortly after treatment. When needed, these connected varicose veins can be treated with sclerotherapy or other techniques.

A complement to the laser procedure -EVLT- is Micro phlebectomy, a procedure which removes the unsightly bulging veins through very small needle holes. It may be combined with the -EVLT- and does not require general anesthesia. With the EVLT and Micro phlebectomy becoming the Gold Standard for effective treatment of varicose veins, many more people who suffer from this common condition are seeking treatment since this treatment is simpler, safer and prevents most of the old surgeries side effects. Patients get rid of all their varicose veins in an hour at the Doctor’s office and drive home to resume normal activities immediately.

Virtually, all insurance companies in the USA cover EVLT. Insurance companies in UAE are catching up.

Post EVLT Instructions:

  • Compression stockings will be in place initially.
  • Normal activities can be resumed immediately.
  • Exercise programs can be resumed after two week.
  • There is no incision, no stitches, no scars…and no veins.

Possible Side Effects of advanced Endo laser treatment ( EVLT ) of varicose veins:

  • Slight bruising.
  • Temporary numbness.
